DRAB CITY LIVE FREE & DIE WHEN IT'S COOL

Landing today via revered boutique label Bella Union, is the heady debut album by eclectic alt-pop duo Drab City. Following early tastes 'Troubled Girl', 'Devil Doll' and 'Working For The Men', 'Live Free & Die When It's Cool' is the facetiously titled final preview from Good Songs For Bad People. Incorporating elements of hazy dub and strung-out slacker rock, the grittiness of 'Live Free & Die When It's Cool' wouldn't feel out of place on one of John Frusciante's more left-field releases, particularly when the guitar solo kicks in about two thirds of the way through. Giving insight to the inspiration behind the track, Drab city explained: “'Live Free and Die When It's Cool' tells the story of a young, penniless drifter who arrives in the big city searching for understanding and like-minded weirdos, only to find the wide open city has been replaced by a hyper-gentrified city of dull careerists.” Check out the album now. -Holly Mullineaux
